The International Institute for the Rights of the Child (IDE) is working in collaboration with the University of Geneva's Center for Children's Rights Studies (CCRS) in the thematic cluster ‘Children and Youth Politics’ of the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Human Rights (SCHR).

The SCHR was formed in 2010, after being contracted by the Swiss Confederation. Its goal is to encourage and set it place international human rights standards throughout Switzerland, as well as to consult and support any authorities, civil society and the economic world.

After a 5-year pilot phase (2011-2015), the Federal Council decided to extend the SCHR’s contract on the 1st of July 2015, thus ensuring that the SCHR may continue its activities in 2016 and then, either until a National Swiss Institute for Human Rights is established or for a maximum of an additional five years.

The SCHR regroups a network of universities, each tasked with their own thematic cluster:

The management and coordination is ensured by the Head Office of the SCHR, under the University of Bern’s Professor Jörg Künzli.

The SCHR published a regular free newsletter on human rights.
